Arts and Crafts
I’m very interested in the Arts and Crafts Movement, and associated artists and communities, as well as ‘Back to the Land’ movements and progressive education. See also the section of this website on ‘The Simple Life’. I have lectured on Edward Thomas and the Arts and Crafts Movement, and I’ve written about the movement for A Cambridge History of World War One Poetry. The Arts and Crafts Movement also featured in my Chatterton Lecture at the British Academy.
