Like many people, I greatly admire the Rupert Bear annuals of the Alfred Bestall era. I love them even more as an adult than I did as a child. \u00a0Anyone unfamiliar with Bestall’s Rupert can see images here.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Followers of Rupert<\/a> is the official Rupert Bear society.<\/p>\n

Perhaps visiting Bestall’s little house in Wales at Beddgelert (where Paul McCartney<\/a> visited Bestall) might be the closest you can get to visiting Rupert’s idyllic Nutwood, but there are many English villages that might remind you of the world of Rupert, Gregory, Algy, Edward, Bill, Bingo, Reggie, Rex, and all their friends.<\/p>\n

There’s also a plaque<\/a> on Bestall’s home in Surbiton.<\/p>\n
