Cuthbertson has made him live again.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.co.uk\/books\/wilfred-owen-by-guy-cuthbertson\/2012918.article\">(Gary Day, <em>Times Higher Education Supplement<\/em>, 1 May 2014<\/a>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, my biography of Wilfred Owen was published by Yale University Press, and it came out in paperback the following year.\u00a0 It was a chance to offer a fresh portrait of this major war poet, and it was a book I worked on for several years (in St Andrews, London and Liverpool).\u00a0 It was reviewed in many newspapers and magazines, as you can see below, and it was nice to be asked to give talks on Owen at a number of different places in the UK (and France and the Netherlands). \u00a0Owen is perhaps less well known in some other countries than he is in the UK, and that was a challenge when writing the book, but the book was read and reviewed outside the UK, from the USA to New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>My book pursued a number of themes, including childhood, innocence and not growing up. \u00a0It was also interested in what Owen didn&#8217;t do, both what he regretted not doing and what he dreamt of doing in the future, those roads not taken that are as much a part of our lives as the things that we do do.<\/p>\n<p>There are many Wilfred Owens and many books on Owen. \u00a0Hopefully there is room for a range of opinions: I read and admired previous work on Owen, and I look forward to reading future work on him. \u00a0We can be certain that there will continue to be books about Owen&#8217;s life and work.<\/p>\n<p><em>Wilfred Owen<\/em> was the first of my three books for Yale University Press and, although they are certainly not a trilogy, they are related &#8211; Owen features in <em>Peace at Last<\/em> and the First World War is one topic in my book on <em>Lady Chatterley&#8217;s Lover<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I appeared on the BBC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/m001df48\"><em>In Our Time,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0discussing Wilfred Owen, on 27 October 2022.
