I&#8217;m glad he liked it. \u00a0In an interview with Will Sloan in June 2026, Waters was asked whether he has been reading any good books lately and mentioned two books: <em>The Curse of the Marquis de Sade <\/em>by Joel Warner, and <em>Lady C: <\/em>&#8216;I just finished another good book about the history of Lady Chatterley\u2019s Lover and the controversy that caused forever [Lady C: The Long, Sensational Life of Lady Chatterley\u2019s Lover, by Guy Cuthbertson].&#8217; [&#8230;] a riotous, entertaining narrative which is also impeccably researched and referenced. [&#8230;] this new book is the perfect scholarly work that is also hugely readable and entertaining, informative and thought-provoking. Highly recommended.&#8217; \u00a0She added that &#8216;I think this is a model of how a book can be informative and &#8220;serious&#8221; but at the same time very entertaining&#8217;. <a href=\"https:\/\/clothesinbooks.blogspot.com\/2026\/06\/lady-chat-chat-uncensored.html\">(Clothes in Books)<\/a>. \u00a0 The review was followed by a review of <a href=\"https:\/\/clothesinbooks.blogspot.com\/2026\/06\/dh-lawrence-and-lady-chatterley-more.html\"><em>Lady Chatterley&#8217;s Lover<\/em><\/a> &#8211; &#8216;I hugely enjoyed re-reading the book, and am grateful for Guy&#8217;s commentary for making me revisit it, and illuminating so much&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>25 June 2026<\/strong>: The Yale University Press website now has an article asking\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/yalebooks.co.uk\/did-lady-chatterleys-lover-inspire-try-a-little-tenderness\/\">&#8216;Did Lady Chatterley\u2019s Lover Inspire &#8220;Try a Little Tenderness&#8221;?&#8217;<\/a>: &#8216;Few songs have enjoyed a longer or more varied afterlife than &#8220;Try a Little Tenderness&#8221;. From its origins in 1932 to celebrated recordings by Otis Redding and countless others, the song has become part of popular culture across generations. Yet beneath its familiar melody may lie an unexpected literary connection. Guy Cuthbertson, author of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/yalebooks.co.uk\/book\/9780300266375\/lady-c\/\">Lady C<\/a><\/em>, investigates whether one of the twentieth century\u2019s most controversial novels, D.H.
